Funeral Flowers: Live Plants for Memorial Services

Live plants can be very appropriate for a funeral. Supermarkets and even Walmart have a vast collection of flowers.

If you are in the process of selecting funeral flowers for a memorial service, you may want to consider purchasing a live plant instead of funeral flowers in a vase. Through this article you are provided with some thoughts about why a living plant can be a wonderful choice when it comes to a memorial service or funeral.

Historically, cut and fresh funeral flowers were the norm when it came to memorial services, when it came to honoring the deceased. More recently, some people have been moving away from cut and frash funeral flowers towards living plants. The most significant benefit of selecting living plants over cut funeral flowers is that the family of the deceased will have something to treasure into the future.

There is something of a "six of one, half a dozen of another" debate going on when it comes to considering fresh funeral flowers versus a living plant. Fresh funeral flowers add a special sense of beauty to a memorial service, a sense of beauty that simply cannot be replicated in any other way, shape or form. Fresh funeral flowers remind us of the beauty that was the life of the person who we have come together to mourn.

On the other hand, fresh funeral flowers are fleeting (but, of course, so is life). In a short amount of time, they will be gone (but, of course, so will we). A plant survives on and can be something of a lasting tribute to the person who has passed on, a living reminder to the family that you thought highly of their loved one. (Naturally, there is an assumption being made that there will be someone in the family who has something of a green thumb and that actually likes plants.)

If you were close to the individual who has passed on and if you are close to his or her family you likely will have some sense as to whether there will be a preference for fresh funeral flowers or a living plant. If you do have a sense of what they would prefer, that obviously provides you with the direction that you will need when pondering whether to buy fresh funeral flowers or a living plant as a tribute.

Finally, discuss the issue with your florist. Your florist will have some solid ideas for you when it comes to deciding between fresh funeral flowers and a living plant. He or she can give you some insights into what other people in your community have been doing of late in regard to ordering fresh funeral flowers or living plants as memorial tributes. A typical florist will have a nice selection of both fresh funeral flowers and living plants for you to select from.

A Cactus can suit a funeral. Many older people are fond of them. They certainly do last
