Richard Kent Upham, 83, of Seneca, S.C., died July 16, 2010. Born in Boston, Mass., on March 30, 1927, he spent his formative years in Fairfield, where he attended Grasmere Elementary School and Roger Ludlow High School before he joined the U.S. Navy in 1944. As a corpsman, he served in the Naval Hospital at Annapolis, Md., for the duration of World War II.
